CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association has published a 2014 micromarket advocacy summary to provide its members with updates on the year's regulatory activities and progress in the micromarket channel.

The summary includes updates on NAMA's work with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on food safety, as well as state legislative updates for Arizona, California, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Texas and Washington.

"2014 was an active year for micromarket advocacy at all levels of government," said NAMA senior vice-president of government affairs Eric Dell. "While meetings have been helpful in laying important groundwork at the federal level with the FDA, most activity has happened at the state and local government levels where NAMA and state council members have been busy working on securing regulations to protect micromarkets and food safety."

He commended industry leaders across the country who participated in hearings and meetings with government entities that have helped create a working framework for NAMA to present to the FDA to assist in molding the language and guidance related to the Federal Food Code as it applies to micromarkets.
