More than 61% of amusement machine businesses were not operating as of August 2020, according to a survey of 325 businesses conducted by Sacoa Cashless Systems. Less than one third (31.6%) were partially active, while only 6.6% were fully operational.
13.2% of the companies resumed business in July, which marked an increase over the 9.2% that did so in June, following 1.3% that opened in May and 3.9% that did so in April.
Only 2.6% reopened in August.
Asked when they expected to resume normal activities, 42.1% said they expected to in six months to a year, while 27.6% said three to six months, 25% said more than a year, 3.9% said one month and 1.3% said current activity is normal or better.
Respondents businesses broke out as follows: Family entertainment center, 40%, arcade, 28.9%, theme park, 21.1%, theme park, 7.9%, bowling center, 7.9%, amusement park, 3.9%, and water park, 2.6%.
