SCHAUMBURG, IL -- Credit- and debit-card processor Moneris Solutions Corp. has completed EMV certification of Verifone's line of unattended payment devices. This enables operators of vending machines equipped with the technology to begin accepting EMV credit and debit cards, and support NFC contactless payments.
Verifone's UX solutions are customizable unattended payment devices for use in all types of self-service environments. They provide businesses with fully integrated payment functionality that connects their retail systems to the Moneris payment host. UX Solutions can support EMV and contactless payments (including NFC-enabled cards and Apple Pay, among others), giving merchants in the unattended payment space the ability to securely accept payments.
Effective October 2015, payment networks are shifting the liability for certain fraudulent non-EMV transactions from card issuers to payment acceptors.
"Working with Moneris helps us to deliver flexible solutions that are essential for helping merchants to easily transition to EMV in such a way, while also better protecting their customers' card data through a multi-layered approach to security," said Shan Ethridge, vice-president and general manager for Verifone's North America Financial Services Group.
Moneris said it has been working with independent software vendors and integrators in Canada that specialize in implementing unattended payment solutions for various markets. With Verifone marking its first U.S. EMV certification, Moneris said it plans to continue working with these businesses to expand their EMV-capable options in the U.S. In the vending industry, Canada's Signifi Solutions is one such partner.
