TROY, MI -- Continental, a food management company based here, said it has acquired Satellite Vending Co., a subsidiary of VendTek Wholesale Equipment Inc., a vending equipment distributor located in Wixom, MI.

According to Steve LaPorte, president of Continental's refreshment services group, Satellite offered Continental a diversified client base and a scalable technology platform.

"Satellite Vending is a perfect complement to Continental's refreshment services operations," LaPorte said. "Joining forces with Satellite also enhances our ability to reach more customers with our diverse on-the-go refreshment service options."

Marc Rosset of Professional Vending Consultants Inc. assisted as intermediary in the Continental-Satellite transaction.

Continental provides dining, refreshment and event services to more than 700 businesses, colleges and universities, industrial sites, hospitals and medical centers. Its services range from onsite corporate cafés and grab-and-go markets to traditional vending, to off-premise catering and event services. Continental announced a partnership with New Heritage Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm that works exclusively with founder-owned businesses, in February.
