The Berrien County Health Department in Michigan has partnered with Berrien County Trial Court to address opioid overdoses in the state's lower peninsula, according to a report from The Herald Palladium.
The vending machine is available during the health department's normal business hours and is completely anonymous. The installation of the vending machine is also supported by the Wayne State University Center for Behavioral Health and Justice, which has launched a multi-year project to install Narcan vending machines throughout Michigan.
"We are grateful to Wayne State for its support of our ongoing efforts to educate the community about Narcan and help prevent overdoses," Lisa Peeples-Hurst, Berrien County Health Department's public health promotion and prevention supervisor, told the news outlet. "We know increasing access to Narcan saves lives, and we are proud to partner with the Berrien County Trial Court in providing this critical resource to community members."
