With the help of a ten-thousand-dollar grant from Kentucky Fried Wishes, Roscommon Elementary School in Roscommon County, Michigan will soon install an Inchy's Bookworm Vending Machine, according to an UpNorthLive report.
Students that demonstrate good and improving literacy and behavioral skills will receive a token to get a book. The vending machine will include books of all reading levels.
"We are always trying to find innovative ways to reward our kids for literacy improvement as well as for behavior," Kathy Rees, school librarian, told the news outlet.
"A lot of times in schools, we're on the other side of it, scrambling to deal with behavior, to deal with the achievement that's not going in the direction it needs to be. And we wanted to be on the other side of that, driving that forward in a very fresh, new innovative and fun way for the kids," Rees added.
