Annie G's Dairy in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has introduced what the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said is the first retail milk vending machine of its kind in the U.S., allowing customers to purchase farm-fresh milk directly from the source.
The self-service machine provides access to locally produced milk and supports the farm's broader mission of improving animal welfare, environmental health and long-term sustainability, according to a Huron Daily Tribune report. The machine offers several flavored options, including chocolate, strawberry, caramel, chai spice, orange creamsicle and a shamrock-style shake.
The farm operates with about 150 cows and follows a breeding program focused on 100% A2A2 genetics, producing milk that many consumers find easier to digest. Annie G's Dairy manages approximately 240 acres of grazing land using regenerative agricultural practices such as rotational grazing and growing its own feed to improve soil health, increase biodiversity and reduce dependence on outside inputs.
The farm uses robotic milking systems that allow cows to voluntarily milk themselves, and its barn was designed to maximize cow comfort and airflow.
