The Massachusetts Vending Association Scholarship Fund, a tax-exempt public charity, has awarded a record $70,000 in scholarship aid to 19 students whose parents are employed by both operator and supplier member companies, according to a press release. The winners are chosen by an independent evaluation committee of professional educators.
This year's top scholarships were awarded to:
Allan Gilbert, a founder of the fund, is a current trustee and its foremost benefactor. Larry Levine is also a founder of the fund and a benefactor. Stephen Foley Jr. passed away unexpectedly as a young adult and is the son of fund chairman Stephen Foley. Steve graduated from Boston College where he was a four year MVA Scholarship Fund award recipient.
Since its inception, the fund, supported by voluntary contributions and interest from its endowment, has granted $718,950 in scholarship aid.
