Massachusetts lawmakers seek tax on sugary drinks

Massachusetts lawmakers are considering an excise tax on sugary drinks, according to the NAMA weekly legislative roundup. Bills have been introduced to both the state senate and house of representatives.

The bills, S 1861 and H. 2859, include a tier based system for the tax amount based on the amount of sugar the beverage contains.
