A Maryland Senate committee has rejected House Bill 380, which would have allowed the sale of contraceptives, including condoms, in vending machines at public schools, from kindergarten through high school, according to a WMAR report.
The bill, which had previously passed the House, faced strong opposition. Critics, including Delegate Kathy Szeliga and Senator Justin Ready, expressed concerns about the appropriateness of such sales in schools, with Szeliga labeling the bill "Condoms for Kiddies" and Ready calling it "ridiculous (and creepy)." The Senate JPR Committee's decision effectively halts the bill's progression.
