Maryland county installs public health vending machines

The Somerset County Health Department in Maryland has installed public health vending machines in Princess Anne and Crisfield, according to a WBOC report.

The vending machines contain harm reduction and personal hygiene items such as xylazine, fentanyl test strips, Narcan, hygiene kits and latex condoms. The county's health department says the supplies in the machines will be dispensed at no-cost.

The vending machine locations were chosen due to their accessibility and discreetness. Somerset County officials told the news outlet that the machines can be accessed 24/7.
