KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia –- Malaysia's Funmaii has opened its second cashless convenience store here, where consumers can pay via the Funmaii e-wallet app service or by credit card.

The Funmaii e-wallet app service also allows consumers to track their expenses and redeem rewards in the form of discount vouchers, extra credit and rebates.

The stores offer a mix of popular Malaysian convenience foods, along with imported snacks and beverages from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand.

Funmaii's three types of c-stores designs include its Basic stores with limited seating areas and Signature stores, which feature a "chill out" area for small events. Its Funmaii Concept stores, launched in partnership with other brands, venture beyond the products and services typically found in convenience stores, including desserts and coffee bars.

Additionally, Funmaii said it plans to install 10,000 vending machines in major shopping malls around Malaysia over the next three years.

Officials said the company plans to open 30 stores over the next 12 months. It is also looking to grow its network of Funmaii-branded stores and kiosks in Southeast Asia, expanding into countries such as Singapore and Indonesia.

Plans are also in the works to introduce Funmaii Vending Machines and Funmaii Eateries, all using the same cashless system. Customers can choose to pay via the Funmaii app, which acts as an e-wallet, or by Mastercard or Visa.
