Major food companies explore buying Hostess Brands

Hostess Brands Inc., maker of Twinkies, CupCakes, Ding Dongs, Donettes, Voortman wafers and other treats, is considering a sale to several major food manufacturers, according to a Reuters report.

The company became an acquisition target after it raised some of its prices to raise revenue.

Companies that have showed interest include PepsiCo Inc., Hershey Co., Mondelez International Inc. and General Mills Inc.
