Maine considers plastic bottle ban

Maine lawmakers are considering a bill to ban plastic bottles 1 liter or less, according toa wtmw report.

Representatives from the food, beverage, grocery store, trucking and bottled water industries testified against the proposed ban during a hearing before the environmental and natural resources committee, citing the financial impact on businesses and employees.

Plastic bottles containing carbonated or flavored beverages would be exempt.

The bill also includes an exception during public health or safety emergencies.
