TULSA, OK -- Main Event Entertainment has opened a high-tech bowling and amusement center here. It's the operator's 20th family entertainment center in the United States, second in Oklahoma and first in Tulsa, where it has created about 175 new jobs.
"The Tulsa community has welcomed us with a great deal of enthusiasm," said Main Event marketing vice-president Sherri Landry. "We share our 20th location milestone with the community, and we welcome them to come in and create lasting memories with their friends and families through our Eat.Bowl.Play. experience."
During Main Event's opening ceremony, a $2,500 donation was made to the Sand Springs Community Services Tornado Relief Fund to assist people affected by a destructive storm that hit the area last month. On March 25, a round of severe thunderstorms struck portions of the Southern Plains and Ozark Mountains, spawning almost a dozen tornados -- several in northeastern Oklahoma near Tulsa.
Headquartered in Dallas, Main Event Entertainment is a subsidiary of Australia's Ardent Leisure Group. In the U.S., Main Event bowling and FEC complexes range from 48,000 to 75,000 square feet and feature about 20 bowling lanes, a multi-level laser tag arena and a gravity ropes course, along with 100 interactive arcade games. Dining options include a chef-inspired menu, specialty pizzas and a full bar. They also offer private rooms for meetings and events. The Tulsa center is 49,000 square feet and boasts 22 lanes.
Main Event has opened six new centers, including one in Oklahoma City, in the past eight months. It plans to open eight more in other cities by June 2016. The Tulsa center is located at South Santa Fe Ave., near the intersection of Highway 75 and West 81st Ave.
