DALLAS -- Main Event Entertainment said it has signed a lease with Pointe Orlando at 9101 International Dr., near some of Orlando's major theme parks and across the street from the Orange County Convention Center. It will be the family entertainment center chain's first store in Florida.
Headquartered in Dallas, Main Event operates 21 entertainment FECs in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia, Missouri and Illinois. The company announced plans to open seven new centers by June 2016 and another eight in its 2017 fiscal year. Main Event Orlando will open in late 2016.
The Orlando market has been on Main Event's radar for some time, said Charlie Keegan, the company's chief executive.
Keegan said its Orlando center will serve as a prototype for several distinct features. Plans call for a 45,000-sq.ft. venue featuring 20 ice-white lanes accented by multicolored LED lighting to create a state-of-the-art bowling experience. It will have eight premium private lanes adjacent to a comfy lounge that is ideal for connecting with friends and coworkers. It also will have an indoor-outdoor bar and a large covered patio with 70" LED TV displays, creating a dramatic outdoor experience.
Similar to its other layouts, Main Event Orlando will have a multilevel laser tag arena and a challenging gravity ropes course suspended over a games gallery with more than 100 arcade games. Two dining areas will feature an extensive chef-inspired menu, specialty pizzas and a full bar serving gourmet cocktails, wine and craft and local beer.
"Main Event further enhances a strong collection of best-in-class dining and entertainment venues that have made Pointe Orlando a successful destination for visitors and locals alike," said Pointe Orlando general manager Susan Godorov.
