KANSAS CITY, MO -- The "Eat Bowl Play" experience is expanding in the Show Me State. Main Event Entertainment has announced plans to open a new family entertainment center here. It will be part of a 52-acre mixed residential-retail community called Edgewood Farms currently in development, and is scheduled to open in mid-2017.

According to preliminary reports, the Dallas-based entertainment center chain will follow its successful format that calls for 50,000 square feet of space anchored by bowling and laser tag. An expansive arcade, a ropes course strung above the arcade and several casual dining options are part of the Main Event formula.

The new FEC will be part of a 225,000-sq.ft. retail development and 275 apartments. According to the developers, Edgewood Farm Partners LLC, businesses in the new space are expected to draw customers from both the residential portion and passers by on the busy I-29 highway, which is part of a booming retail corridor.

The announcement of the Kansas City plans closely follows the opening of the company's 50,000-sq.ft. venue in nearby Independence, MO, in November and plans for new locations in Pointe Orlando (FL) and Sante Fe, NM.

Main Event Entertainment was founded in 1998 and is a subsidiary of Australia's Ardent Leisure Group.
