The Los Lunas Fire Department in Los Lunas, New Mexico has installed a vending machine to provide the public with free Narcan and gun locks, according to a KOB 4 report. The project is a partnership with Women in Leadership.

The department's goal is to make these life-saving resources easily accessible to everyone. While the department has not seen an uptick in overdoses, they want to be part of the solution. The vending machine allows the community to obtain these items at no cost.

"We know that there's a problem and there's a lot of medical problems going on out there," LLFD Chief John Gabaldon told the news outlet. "It was important for us as a department to continue to be part of that solution, provide that access and make sure our community knows they can come in somewhere and get that resource."

For those who are unsure how to use Narcan, the fire department offers training to build confidence in its use. The vending machine is located inside the fire station, and anyone can walk in to get the items they need.
