A vending machine in Lincoln, Nebraska, now offers low-cost emergency contraception and pregnancy tests. Installed at 1867 Bar by the Women's Fund of Omaha, the machine provides Plan B for $8 and pregnancy tests for $3, significantly lower than retail prices, according to a KLKN TV report.
The initiative aims to increase accessibility and reduce stigma associated with purchasing these products. "It's important for people to have access to what they need when they need it, and not having additional barriers and control over your availability options," Jo Giles, executive director of the Women's Fund of Omaha, told the news outlet.
The machine, a cashless, touch-screen system, also ensures privacy for buyers. The installation complements similar machines in Omaha, with proceeds covering maintenance and restocking.
