Leanpath, a company specializing in food waste management for the foodservice and hospitality industries, has exceeded its pledge to prevent 50 million meals' worth of food from going to waste by the end of 2025, according to a press release. The company shared that it has already prevented more than 65 million meals from being wasted in the past two years.
The milestone is part of Leanpath's commitment to the 123 Pledge, an initiative aligned with the United Nations' goal to halve global food waste by 2030. Leanpath's technology provides kitchen staff and organizations with the tools and insights to measure and manage food waste. The company has created what it calls an automated food waste prevention category and works with major foodservice providers like Google and Sodexo in more than 4,000 kitchens globally.
"This achievement isn't just a number; it represents a significant step forward in our collective fight against food waste and climate change," Andrew Shakman, CEO of Leanpath, said in the release. "Our clients prove every day that with the right tools, food waste is a solvable problem that can deliver both financial and environmental benefits."
