A Lansing-area school has installed a vending machine that dispenses books instead of snacks, aiming to increase student access to reading materials, according to a WILX 10 report. The machine offers books to students who demonstrate positive behavior, aligning with the school's monthly social-emotional themes.
Principal Shannon Harris told the news outlet, "Some of our students don't have those opportunities to have books at home, and we're helping to provide them with libraries of their very own to have at their house." Students earn tokens for good behavior, which they can then use to select a book to keep.
