NORTHFIELD, IL -- Kraft Foods Group Inc. has named a chief operating officer and said its top finance and marketing executives will depart, continuing an overhaul that began in December with the retirement of its chief executive.
George Zoghbi, vice-chairman of operations, becomes chief operating officer. Chief financial officer Teri List-Stoll and chief marketing officer Deanie Elsner will leave on Feb. 28.
Chris Kempczinski, who runs Kraft's Canada unit, got an expanded role as executive vice-president of growth initiatives and president of international. In his newly created role, Kempczinski will work with Zoghbi, including on mergers and acquisitions, Kraft said.
Jane Hilk, the company's president of enhancers and snack nuts, was appointed interim chief marketing officer.
Chuck Davis, executive vice-president of research, development, quality and innovation, is set to leave Kraft once his successor is named.
Chief executive Tony Vernon left in December and was replaced by chairman John Cahill. Vernon steered Kraft through its first two years as an independent company, following its split with Mondelez International Inc. in October 2012. While Kraft has a strong brand portfolio, it has struggled to maintain growth.
