Kiosk'Ice, a French manufacturer of autonomous ice production units, is expanding internationally as it positions itself as a provider of on-site ice solutions, according to a press release. The company, already active in parts of Europe and South America, is promoting a decentralized model that produces ice directly at the point of use. Its system, described as a one-square-meter "ice factory," eliminates the need for refrigerated transport, storage and complex supply chains, offering a scalable option for commercial environments.

A key component of the company's strategy is its use of R290 (propane) refrigerant, which has a lower environmental impact and is expected to align with tightening regulations in the Americas beginning in 2026. Kiosk'Ice has also introduced its "Kiosk'Ice System," a platform that integrates payment, connectivity and remote monitoring, enabling multi-site management and flexibility for different operating models. The units incorporate technology from Scotsman, a global ice equipment manufacturer, and build on a patent originally filed in 2015.

Kiosk'Ice officials say its approach reflects a broader shift in the ice industry from logistics-driven distribution to localized production, and it plans to continue expanding through partnerships and a phased entry into new markets.
