The inventor of Keurig KÂ-Cups says he regrets ever creating the nonÂrecyclable coffee capsules, which are piling up in landfills.
"I feel bad sometimes that I ever did it," John Sylvan told The Atlantic.
Sylvan, who was bought out of Keurig in 2007 and has sold his Green Mountain Coffee stock, said he doesn't even own a Keurig brewer. "They're kind of expensive to use," he told the magazine. "Plus it's not like drip coffee is tough to make."

K-Cup sales have exploded since 2008, driving Keurig Green Mountain's annual revenue to $4.7 billion in 2014.
Meanwhile, the company is facing growing public backlash over the waste associated with K-Cups. In January, a petition to "Kill the K-Cup" was launched with a dramatized video [below] of the cataclysmic consequences of the plastic capsules.
In a news release last month, Keurig Green Mountain pledged to make all K-ÂCups recyclable by 2020. But those behind the crusade to protect the environment from their impact say that's too far off.
