Kepak acquires Summit Foods to expand UK market

Kepak, an Irish meat-processing group, has acquired UK-based Summit Foods, according to an Irish Times report. This strategic move marks Kepak's entry into the chilled sandwiches and frozen snacks sector.

Summit Foods, a well-established player in the UK's convenience food market, will continue operations from its Preston base. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Kepak's position in the growing UK food-to-go and micro-snacking market.

"Summit's portfolio of fresher-for-longer sandwiches, chilled and frozen meals and snacks complements our existing micro snacking offerings and allows us to deepen our presence across these markets," Brian Farrell, chief executive of Kepak's food division, told the news outlet.
