The Kellogg Co. will eliminate close to half of the 530 jobs at the former Keebler plant in Mariemont, Ohio this year, according to a WCPO report.
Tracy Mihas, Kellogg's senior director for state government relations, said in an email to Mariemont Mayor Bill Brown the company will shut down two production lines in Mariemont to move production of Toesteds and Zesta to Tennessee, impacting 165 hourly positions.
The company will further cut 65 hourly jobs by mid-year when a contract with Ferrara Candy Co. to make vanilla wafers expires. Last April, Ferrara purchased Kellogg's Famous Amos and Keebler cookie brands. Mihas said 20 salaried roles will be impacted by the combined loss of cookie and cracker production.
