The Kansas House and Senate have passed a law to cut the state sales tax on food, including food sold through vending machines, from 6.5% to 4% from Jan. 1, 2023, to 2% on Jan. 1, 2024, and to zero on Jan. 1, 2025, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association weekly legislative update.
NAMA and the Mid-America Automatic Merchandising Association supported HB 2106, which treats vending the same as groceries.
