JAMESTOWN, KY -- The Kentucky Automatic Merchandising Association and Ohio Automatic Merchandising Association will hold a joint annual meeting at Cumberland Lake State Park here from June 26 through 28. The resort area is extremely popular, so the associations recommend that members who plan to attend the event make reservations promptly.

This year's event offers a lively educational program as well as ample networking and recreational opportunities.

Activities get under way at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 26 with a golf tournament, for which preregistration is required.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a variety of resort activities will be available, including horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, tennis, shuffleboard and hiking, and general registration will be open from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A sponsor recognition and networking reception is scheduled for 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner.

Golf tournament results will be announced, and sponsor networking baskets will be raffled off, and a silent auction and raffle round out the festivities. A hospitality room will open into the later evening to provide a congenial environment for networking -- and for practicing beanbag-tossing skills in anticipation of Saturday's cornhole tournament.

Also on Friday, members of the Unified Strategies Group can attend a seminar presented by USG's Chris Stave (Louisville, KY) and Matt Warner (Delaware, OH). The session will aid members to determine whether they are making maximum use of their benefits, and in using the group's website to make purchasing easier.

Saturday's program leads off with the annual KAMC/OAMA annual meeting from 8:30 a.m. to noon. In addition to dealing with association business, the annual meeting will present three expert speakers.

Terry Vannarsdale of Vannarsdale Investigations (Florence, KY) will discuss contemporary security threats and effective loss prevention techniques.

National Automatic Merchandising Association regional legislative director Sheree Edwards will review how the effects of recent and current legislation and regulatory actions will affect the industry, especially the new FDA calorie disclosure rules, USDA school vending and foodservice directives and the possible redesign of the nation's coinage.

Tenisha M. Jones, Fleetmatics (Charlotte, NC) will explain the benefits of tightening vehicle fleet management processes by the use of global positioning system-based tracking systems.

Saturday afternoon will afford conference-goers another opportunity to enjoy the many options for outdoor recreation that are available at Cumberland Lake State Park. A family dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the annual conference ends with the grand finale: a cornhole toss and hospitality room, under way from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Registration information, including a downloadable form, may be found online at kyvending.org (click on Events at the top of the homepage and follow the prompt).

Registrations postmarked before April 15 will qualify for an early bird discount rate of $160 per adult and $60 per child (less than 18 years old); the rate then reverts to the standard $185 for adults, $85 for children.

The Lake Cumberland State Park registration desk can be contacted by calling (270) 343-3111 or (800) 325-1709. Conference-goers should ask for the KAMC rate: $99.95 for Thursday, June 25 and $109.95 on Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27.
