JELL-O, a Kraft Heinz brand with over 125 years of history in the dessert aisle, has launched its first plant-based product, JELL-O Oat Milk Chocolate Pudding, according to a press release. Now available nationwide, the pudding is lactose-free and vegan, aiming to cater to consumers with dietary restrictions and preferences. This marks Kraft Heinz's debut in both the plant-based desserts category and oat milk-based products.
The company cited the prevalence of milk allergies among children and lactose intolerance in adults, along with the significant growth in the plant-based desserts market, as drivers for this innovation. JELL-O aims to address a perceived gap in the market for tasty and texturally satisfying dairy-alternative puddings. The initial flavor, chocolate, pays tribute to JELL-O's first pudding flavor from the 1930s.
"JELL-O has always set the standard for creamy and great-tasting desserts that families across the country can enjoy," Lauren Gumbiner, associate director of marketing desserts at The Kraft Heinz Company, said in the release. "As our fans' diets and preferences change, we're evolving our portfolio alongside them. Our chocolate pudding is a timeless classic, and now, thanks to our lactose-free and vegan oat milk version, we're excited to give more families the opportunity to enjoy it."
JELL-O selected oat milk for its creamy consistency and mild flavor, allowing the brand to replicate its signature pudding texture and taste in a plant-based format that is also gluten-free. The JELL-O Oat Milk Chocolate Pudding is available in four-packs at major retailers across the country.
