JDE Peet’s buys Brazil coffee, tea business

JDE Peet's has acquired the Brazilian coffee and tea business from JAV Group for an undisclosed amount in cash, which was first announced on July 24, 2023, according to a press release.

Maratá's coffee and tea business is predominantly present in the northern part of Brazil through its Café Maratá and Chá Maratá brands.

JDE Peet's is an American-Dutch company formed in 2015 following the merger of the coffee division of Mondelez International with Douwe Egberts as Jacobs Douwe Egberts. It serves coffee and tea in over 100 markets with a portfolio of over 50 brands including L'OR, Peet's, Jacobs, Senseo, Tassimo, Douwe Egberts, Old Town, Super, Pickwick and Moccona. In 2022, it generated total sales of EUR 8.2 billion and employed a global workforce of more than 20,000 employees.
