People in Japan can win a necklace made of domestic pearls worth 20,000 yen ($146) by making a purchase at one of 250 "gacha gacha" capsule vending machines, according to an asahi.com report.

Each purchase from the machine costs 1,000 yen ($7.46). One out of every 50 capsules has a winning ticket exchangeable for a pearl necklace worth 20,000 yen. All other purchases provide an accessory made with pearls worth 3,000 yen ($22.39). Each pearl is at least 5 millimeters in diameter and comes with an identification report and a case.

The Uwakai Pearl Corp. launched the three-month promotional offer beginning in November to support the pearl culture industry amid declining harvests.

The coin-operated machines accept two 500-yen ($3.73) coins per spin.
