GYODA, Japan -- The Japan Crane Game Association hosted its first workshop and competition for children. Hosted by the Sekaiichi no Gemu Senta Eburidei Gyoda, a renowned game center located here in the Saitama Prefecture, the event reportedly attracted 20 youngsters eager to learn how to improve their skills at playing claw machines.
Arcade employees demonstrated the techniques needed to win at 12 specially stocked games, encouraged the children to take notes and provided 30 minutes of free play to practice. Children who won prizes received certificates of accomplishment.
The arcade, which is operated by the Japan Crane Game Association, holds the Guinness World Record for the most claw machines placed in a single location. The association was established in 2014 for the purpose of promoting skill crane play.
According to local press reports, a 12-year-old girl took top honors at the children's event, mastering the skills needed to win at the games.
