VERNON HILLS, IL - Incredible Technologies will host its 2018 Golden Tee Golf World Championship at The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV on June 8-10.
At this writing, 63 of the 64 available spots have been filled by top players from all parts of North America, who will compete on the giant Orleans Showroom stage. The final qualifying spot will belong to the winner of a special Closest to the Pin contest scheduled for Friday, June 8.
The event, which will begin at 6 p.m. local time, is open to the public; anyone can enter and participate in the "fast and fun" video golf game mode.
Qualification play for the tournament took place during February, March and April on more than 15,000 Golden Tee machines in commercial establishments across the U.S. and Canada. A variety of formats and qualifying leaderboards were available, offering opportunities to the widest possible player base. The 63 finalists now will vie for the $20,000 top prize and the $100,000 prize pool.
The final qualifying spot has been reserved for the winner of the Closest-to-the-Pin contest on June 8. In CTTP, players are faced with nine different Golden Tee golf holes; they get one shot on each to try for a hole in one. Players will compete head-to-head to determine the winner, who will win $1,000 and the remaining World Championship spot.
Registration for the CTTP event will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 8.
All the contestants will compete on Saturday, June 9 to determine rank and seeding. Match play will then take place on Sunday, June 10.
The top 32 players will compete in a double-elimination Champion bracket;, the lower 32 will compete in a single-elimination Silver bracket. The Orleans Showroom will be open to spectators all weekend long.
All the action will be livestreamed on Twitch, Facebook Live and YouTube. And to elevate the stakes, The Orleans has set betting odds on the competitors, adding an exciting new element to the e-sports showcase.
By Sunday evening, after hours of intense and compelling video golf, a new World Champion will be crowned on Sunday evening. The winner will walk away with the $20,000 top prize and a permanent place in Golden Tee history, including his or her likeness in a future game update.
"Golden Tee Golf has been offering videogame skill contests since 1995 and is a pioneer in the world of e-sports," said Incredible Technologies president and chief executive officer Elaine Hodgson. "The World Championship is the perfect showcase for rewarding players for their skill and shining a light on the brand's ongoing success."
