Irish retailers deploy AI reverse vending machines

Sensi, a Dublin, Ireland based manufacturer of a reverse vending machine to retrieve recyclable items in exchange for payment, has been introduced to locations across Ireland, according to a Business Post report.

The machine uses artificial intelligence visual recognition and rewards users with digital vouchers in the form of QR codes.

The machines have been installed in locations such as retailer Fresh and the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Swords, a Dublin shopping center that has adopted a deposit return scheme for recycled items. Numerous retailers have supported the initiative.
