INDIANAPOLIS -- Electronic darters around the globe will celebrate their favorite coin-op sport on Oct. 29. Created by the AMOA-National Dart Association, International Play Darts Day raises awareness of electronic soft-tip darting and the community behind the pastime, often played in bars and taverns.
NDA is inviting all soft-tip darting fans to go out play, and share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #NDAPlayDarts. It's encouraging vending operators and locations to host special league nights, qualifying events and parties to bring darters together. "Dress to represent a cause, bar, state or country," NDA suggests.

The soft-tip dart revolution began in the United States in the late 1970s. Electronic-scoring dartboards have since been a mainstay of the coin-op industry. The NDA is an international trade association of vending companies representing some 250 members and 45,000 players involved in the activity. The association was formed by coin machine operators who were looking for ways to promote electronic darting on their equipment.
