India restaurant deploys biryani kiosk

A restaurant in Chennai, India specializing in biryani, an Indian mixed rice dish, has deployed a self-serve kiosk as an alternative sales channel to the sit-down restaurant and deliveries, according to a report in The Hindu.

The kiosk accepts credit cards and has a touchscreen displaying mutton, chicken and egg biryanis as well as appetizers, desserts and breakfast items.

The biryani offerings come in different sizes: mini, regular and bucket.

An attendant is stationed near the kiosk since the display is only in English and to assist customers who wish to pay with cash.

The company plans to install more biryani kiosks in other locations.
