VERNON HILLS, IL -- Incredible Technologies reports that Golden Tee 2016, the 10th in a continuing series of software updates for its "live" golf videogame system, began shipping on Sept. 28. According to the manufacturer, operators responded swiftly to the release, successfully updating nearly 10,000 cabinets in less than three weeks.
Golden Tee 2016 features five new 18-hole courses, bringing the total number of virtual courses to 55. It also includes additional moneymaking game formats for devoted "repeat" and casual players, as well as a new menu system designed to get players into the game more quickly. | SEE STORY
"Golden Tee 2016 continues our strategy to add new and unique game features that appeal to both seasoned and new players," said IT amusements vice-president Don Pesceone "Features that offer more ways to win, faster game times and easier game entry will keep the game fresh and entertaining throughout the year."
A prime example is Money Shot, a quick-prize game that offer players three shots at the pin for daily prizes. For casual players, the new Closest to the Pin option has been added, enabling quick games that appeal to local friends and foursomes.
The update also includes new game menus, a new keypad and more secure player accounts, all helping to streamline the process of getting into the game. Players now have three ways to check in to their profiles: by using a player card or entering a Lost Card ID or the card-less ID on the keypad.
"We are working hard to remove excuses not to play," Pesceone said. "Players can even add funds to their accounts from the GT Caddy app, so they can play without having to carry cash, something the younger generation rarely has." The free GT Caddy app also offers instant access to stats, contest results and custom features that would take too long to perform on the game itself, but become available to patrons playing at a location.
Operators who preordered updates for all of their online machines again were eligible for AwesomeDraw, a sweepstakes that awards more than $10,000 in equipment and other prizes. AwesomeDraw prizes ranged from gift cards and T-shirts to full update kits and IT's Showpiece games.
Ordering annual updates for all of an operator's locations in advance is a smart business move, Pesceone emphasized, explaining that it's a strategic decision that helps keep Golden Tee alive and on schedule. The AwesomeDraw sweepstakes "is our way of saying thank you" for the confidence in Golden Tee Live that operators continue to demonstrate, he added.
