Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker has signed a law requiring state agencies to reduce the use of single-use plastics by 50% on or before 2031 and by 75% on or before 2036, according to the NAMA weekly legislative roundup. Agencies will be required to begin reduction efforts by July 2025.

Decisions on how to reduce single-use plastics could affect what products convenience services operators will be able to sell in state facilities. NAMA continues to monitor what impact the law will have on convenience services.
