CLARENCE, NY -- New from Innovative Concepts in Entertainment is an amusement machine, which employs both electromechanical and video elements, based on the "Ghostbusters" movie saga. The product, a recent collaboration between ICE and design studio Play Mechanix (Glen Ellyn, IL), began shipping in mid-April. A reboot based on the popular 1984 "Ghostbusters" film is slated for release by Sony Pictures Entertainment in mid-July.
ICE's new video redemption game challenges players to shoot balls from an electromechanical proton gun at the screen; the object is to restrain ghosts by locking onto their ectoplasm with the weapon's "ecto beam." Successful ghost immobilization allows the player to navigate through a series of challenging screens and, if successful, to try to defeat the menacing Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (and win the big bonus).
The two-player game is equipped with a horizontal 58" LED flatscreen display, two player stations with an illuminated bench and an eye-catching Ghostbusters marquee. The two-player, open-air cabinet glows to create a "Ghostbusters" tone. Gameplay occurs in eight movie scenes.
"We were able to take an iconic movie license and create a truly awesome video redemption experience for players of all ages," said ICE vice-president of sales Joe Coppola.
Information on the new Ghostbusters game may be had from ICE distributors or by calling the manufacturer at (716) 759-0370.
