INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Amusement and Music Operators Association presented its Wayne Cunningham Award to Tim Dwyer of Shaffer Distributing Co. (Indianapolis). The award is named after the man who led the development of IAMOA's coin-operated dart and pool tournament programs.
Dwyer, who is serving as vice-president of the IAMOA, has been involved with the association for numerous years. His career in the coin-op industry spans more than 33 years in route operations and equipment distribution. He started as a route manager for Modern Vending Sales and later joined Cleveland Coin and Atlas Distributing. He accepted a post with Shaffer Distributing in 2005.
"Sometimes you pick a job, sometimes the job picks you," Dwyer said. "The coin-op industry has been a great experience, and I have met a lot of good people I am proud to call friends."
Some 17 IAMOA members have received the Wayne Cunningham Award since its first presentation in 1998. They are Shawn Smith, Jerry Wilson, Mike Smythe, Don Ernst, Rick Coop, Mike Gibbel, Vicki Shaw, and Tim Louden, as well as Leslie Murphy, Susie Pierce, Ed Dencer, Bill Smythe, Myra Glover and Conrad Storz III, along with Skip Morrison, John Parlipiano and Barb Marroni-Pierson.
