ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The board of directors of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions has elected Andreas Veilstrup Andersen second vice-chairman. Andersen is president and chief executive of Liseberg Group, which is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. He will become IAAPA's second vice-chairman in 2016, first vice-chairman in 2017 and global chairman in 2018.

Andersen has been in the attractions industry since 2001, and an IAAPA board member since 2014. He became president and chief executive of Liseberg Group in 2011. He was executive director of IAAPA's regional office in Europe from 2008 to 2011, and was responsible for membership sales, program development, government affairs, and management of the Euro Attractions Show.

He served as vice-president and chief operating officer of the legendary Tivoli amusement park and pleasure garden in Copenhagen from 2004 to 2008, and had been the park's lawyer from 2002 to 2004. Andersen, who started his career in amusements at Tivoli, worked for Denmark's Ministry of Finance before entering the industry.

"Andreas' industry knowledge is deep, and he has strong relationships with a number of key leaders worldwide," said Roland Mack, managing partner of Germany's Europa-Park in Rust and chairman of IAAPA's Governance Committee, which nominates the second vice-chairman to the board of directors. "These attributes, combined with his strong and enthusiastic commitment to the global attractions industry, will make him an excellent leader for IAAPA."

Founded in 1918, IAAPA is the largest international trade association for permanently located amusement facilities and attractions. It has more than 4,800 members in over 90 countries.
