The Hershey Company has opened its Reese's chocolate processing facility at its headquarters in Hershey, Pennsylvania, according to a Food Business News report.
The 250,000-square-foot plant, situated on a 55-acre site, represents Hershey's first fully integrated digital manufacturing facility and the first manufacturing plant built at its headquarters in over three decades.
The facility will produce chocolate for various Hershey brands, including Reese's, KitKat, Symphony, Special Dark and Hershey's. Hershey initially announced plans for this expansion in November 2022. The plant is expected to add 120 jobs to the region.
"Hershey is an iconic Pennsylvania company, and they chose to expand their footprint right here at home — in the sweetest place on Earth," Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro told the news outlet.
Hershey said the facility is part of a broader $1 billion investment plan across its North American facilities to meet increasing consumer demand. This plan includes the addition of production lines and upgrades to existing ones.
