The early history of the Hershey Company and its founder, Milton Hershey, is set for a big-screen adaptation, with filming currently underway, according to a Confectionary Production report. The movie will star Finn Wittrock as Milton Hershey and Alexandra Daddario as his wife, Catherine, under the direction of Mark Waters, known for "Mean Girls."
The project, developed in collaboration with Hershey Entities, aims to chronicle Milton Hershey's journey from initial failures to establishing one of the world's most iconic confectionery brands, also highlighting his significant contributions to education and his local community. Production began in mid-May in Pittsburgh and will continue through June in Pennsylvania, the company's historic home state. The supporting cast includes notable actors such as Alan Ruck, Richard Kind and David Costabile.
"Pennsylvania gives us unique and rich locations that seem frozen in time, transporting us back to the turn of the century. Boasting well-preserved historic settings and stunning landscapes, the state is the perfect setting for recreating pivotal moments from the life and legacy of Milton Hershey," director Mark Waters told the news outlet.
The film is anticipated to be released next year.
