A plan by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to install vending machines in Moose Jaw, Canada to offer harm reduction supplies to drug users has met opposition from some residents and businesses, according to a moosejawtoday.com report.
The SHA has decided to place a machine at the Crescent View Clinic site where supplies are presently being handed out and is also considering a South Hill location, the Palliser Library, for a second machine.
One resident opposed to the location for the second machine requested anonymity due to fear of retribution from drug dealers and users living nearby.
A day care center also expressed concerns about the machine, noting that there are elementary schools nearby in addition to day care centers, ball fields and parks.
Community feedback was presented during a meeting held at the Palliser Library.
