Hacking Prompts Cancellation Of Kim Jong-Un Shoot-Em-Up

ATLANTA -- Plans for a North Korean-themed videogame has been scrapped. Moneyhorse Games' Glorious Leader! received worldwide publicity when it was announced in May 2014. But officials at Moneyhorse stopped development after the company fell victim to a Sony-like hack, which caused the feature film "The Interview" to be pulled from theaters.

The announcement was made on the firm's Kickstarter page. "As many of you know, over the holidays we were victims of a hack inspired by the attack on Sony. The hackers destroyed data pertaining to Glorious Leader! and other projects we had in development and locked us out of our own computers and website," the announcement read. "The timing couldn't have been worse as it hampered our ability to attend to the Kickstarter project. We realize that we also made mistakes in our pledge levels and rewards. It is now evident that our funding goals will not be met, so we are canceling our Kickstarter campaign."

The "run-n-gun" satiric videogame supposedly featured North Korea's portly young ruler declaring war on the United States to "destroy the capitalist swine." Along with such totalitarian flights of whimsy that included unicorns and dolphins, North Korea apologist Dennis Rodman was featured in the retro-style 16-bit game.

North Korean officials have made no official comments about the game's cancellation.
