Gruppo Cimbali teams with Altair on IoT enabled coffee machines

Altair, a technology provider, has teamed with with Gruppo Cimbali, a coffee machine manufacturer, to establish a "digital twin-driven" process that will shorten the time to market for new products and increase machine energy efficiency, according to a press release.
Altair's platform blends physics- and data-driven twins to support optimization throughout the life cycle of Gruppo Cimbali coffee machines, reducing the need for physical tests.
Gruppo Cimbali is one of the first companies in the sector to expand into telemetry and offer management, display and data representation systems for Wi-Fi-connected machines, according to the press release.
The traditional, fully automatic professional espresso coffee machines are created based on IoT functionalities, where information about each drink crafted is added to a database along with insights about drink quality to improve daily management.
