The government of Vietnam is encouraging the placement of vending machines, causing manufacturers to design models with touchscreens, fall detection sensors, integrated billing and mobile payment, according to a vietnamnet.vn report.
In April, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen approved a plan to deploy vending machines at public places in Hanoi through 2025 in an effort to replace street vendors.
There are already 717 machines in the city offering snacks and beverages, according to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.
