MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- An upcoming feature for Android users will reportedly enhance Google Maps and potentially assist route personnel. The feature will predict where a user wants to go and automatically report on traffic conditions, offer an estimated time of arrival, and report on gas prices near the destination.

Calculations are based on a variety of sources accumulated in the device, including previous driving history, time of day and day of week.

According to company officials, the new feature is currently not available to all Android users. It is currently available only in English, and only in the U.S., United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore.

When employed by route personnel, the new features could save time and money, as well as assist in planning service schedules.
