A charitable initiative is coming to Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City this holiday season. Three "Light the World Giving Machines" will be installed, allowing visitors to donate to local and international charities, according to a report by The Oklahoman.
The vending machines will feature cards representing various items needed by nonprofits such as Infant Crisis Services, ReMerge and Pivot. By making a donation, visitors can purchase items like diapers, infant formula or even apples to be distributed to those in need.
Jennifer Goodwin, Pivot CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the project, telling the news outlet, "It's a way for people to walk up and see exactly what they're getting. I think it's a great way to raise awareness for all of the different nonprofits and a way for the community to come together and give."
The Giving Machines have been successful in other cities, raising over $33 million for charities worldwide. The Oklahoma City initiative aims to provide a convenient and impactful way for people to support their community.
