MIAMI -- Gilly Vending has signed NBA legend Alonzo Mourning as the "face" of its new healthy initiative program. Mourning, who played for the Miami Heat as a center during most of his 15-year career in the National Basketball Association, will assist the 33-year-old vending operation in publicizing the program.

"We are thrilled that Alonzo will be working with us on this exciting awareness initiative," said Gilly Vending president Gilda Rosenberg. "We wanted to go the extra step, and through our company's national marketing division have begun to develop partnerships with national and local athletes to help roll out our healthy snack and beverage vending program."

Mourning, who led the Miami Heat to their first championship, is a 2014 Hall of Fame inductee. He and his wife Tracy established the Mourning Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $10 million for programs to aid in the development of children and their families.

"Gilly Vending is on the cutting edge of the industry and has enormous influence on the snack habits of consumers of all ages," Mourning observed. "I am very excited about my association with this campaign."

The Gilly Vending/Alonzo Mourning Healthy Snack Program will partner with local and national businesses, high schools, colleges, transportation and government institutions to promote affordable healthier vending options in thousands of the company's machines nationwide.

Gilly Vending says it has been on the leading edge of the vending industry during its more than three decades in business. It is the country's largest woman-owned vending company, and continues to innovate around the core concept of vending machines as a prime resource for on-the-go purchases. It also runs micromarkets. The company says its new mobile pay option is fast becoming a consumer favorite, and its increasing placement of high-tech interactive equipment with digital marketing capabilities is keeping its "high-five-figure" inventory of machines in the vanguard of vending operations.

Gilly's machines can be found at American Airlines, Yale University, Miami Dade College, Atlanta's MARTA rapid-transit system, Miami International Airport, Arizona State University and hundreds of other locations across the country.
